Starting a Company 2.0: Rapidly, Lean and Locally

Have you always wanted to start your own business? Wondering how to make your idea a reality? Do you already have an at home business that you would like to expand? The Portland Economic Development Commission may be able to help! The EDC is sponsoring a business seminar entitled; “Starting a Company 2.0: Rapidly, Lean, and Locally”. The seminar will address key concepts for entrepreneurs: When to Jump In: Why Now is the time to start your company, Lean Start-Ups: What are they and how can they move your business idea forward rapidly, Raising Capital: How to find money for your idea, and Where to Start: Why Portland is an economic utopia for start-ups.

Devin Schleidt, a graduate of Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business and the owner of Schleidt Works, a business development firm, will present the seminar. Mr. Schleidt’s firm specializes in turnkey business solutions for lean start-ups. Schleidt Works assists clients in building their businesses from the ground up, efficiently and effectively, with minimal cost and risk. Mr. Schleidt’s current clients range from a military weapons development firm to an online long board retailer.

The program will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 and begin at 7 pm at the Buck-Foreman Community Center, 265 Main Street, Portland. There is no cost for attending the presentation, but prior registration is suggested. To register for the program, e-mail Mary Dickerson, Economic Development Consultant at edcportland@yahoo.com
