The Portland Police Department has been located in the Portland Buck-Foreman Community Building since April 2003. The Department is staffed by ten full-time police officers: Lieutenant Ron Milardo, Sergeant Scott Cunningham, Sergeant James Kelly, Officer Dan Knapp, Officer James Capello, Officer Francis Ahlquist, Officer Michael Fitzpatrick, Officer Paul Liseo, Officer Micheal Revicki, Officer Daniel Brown and one Records Secretary, Rosanne Lombardi.

The Dispatch function is provided through the Middletown Communications Center based upon an interlocal agreement with the City of Middletown. Contact numbers for Police Services in the Town of Portland are as follows:
