On October 2nd starting at 7:00 A.M. 25 to 30 dedicated individuals undertook the task of constructing Portland's first pre-school handicapped accessible playscape.

This playscape, manufactured by Landscape Structures Inc., was built under the guidance of Meagan O'Brien of O'Brien and Sons Landscape's manufacturers representative.

Portland
Youth Services "Time for Tots" caregivers began the fundraising
process several years ago. Many dedicated Portland families worked on
the Playscape Committee to raise the money needed. State Senator Eileen
Daley and State Representative Jim O'Rourke were instrumental in obtaining
a $10,000 grant for this project.

This project was done as a coodinated effort between Portland Youth Services, Portland Public Works, and the Portland Building and Planning Departments.
