We want their experience at summer camp to be a fun and memorable one. The Summer Camps meet Monday Friday, June 24th August 16th (No camp July 4th) Extended Camp is August 18th - 29th . There has been restructuring of the camp hours. The Summer Playground and Teen Adventure programs will meet from 8 a.m. 3 p.m. (1/2 day). Playground Plus will meet from 7:30 a.m. 6 p.m. (full day) This change will make registration easier as well as if a parent is delayed for any reason, there is flexibility for pickup Please read the description on each camp for information. Activities include sports, free play, games, arts and crafts, field trips, special events and theme days.
Camp Fees The camp registration fees have increased this year due to the increased costs in staffing, supplies, transportation, admission costs for field trips and entertainment. The time structure has changed. Because one person staffs the Recreation Office, it makes it difficult for tracking registrations and payments for regular hours and extended hours. In order to become more efficient, the changes were necessary. The benefit for parents is if for some reason they are delayed they know their child will be cared for. Each camp (with the exception of Kiddie Kamp) now has either a ½ day 8 a.m. 3 p.m. or a full day which is 7:30 a.m. 6 p.m. There are 2 short weeks in the program this year. Since school is schedule to get out mid week the camp fee will be pro-rated. It will also be prorated for the July 4th holiday. If a family is requesting financial assistance, you need to contact the Parks and Recreation Office prior to submitting the registration form. Care4Kids program is also available for families who need assistance.
New for 2003! Playground Plus Extra Weeks After numerous requests from parents, we are now offering an extra 2 weeks. The extended Playground Plus from August 18 August 29 will meet at Noyes Camp located on Penfield Hill Road only. There will be a minimum enrollment of 20 youth. Parents will have the option of ½ day or full day. The costs will be the same as above. The activities will be similar to the regular summer program. Registrations for the Extended Weeks need to be done prior to July 14th. If there is not enough enrolled the program will not meet. So register early to avoid cancellation. Costs are also the same.
Camp Discounts Refunds will be given before the program begins. Once the activity has begun, there will be no refunds given except in the case of illness, injury or relocation. I hope parents understand that with limited amount of staff in the department, it makes it very difficult to make many changes or track attendance. Many changes have occurred in the summer program over the years and we have tried to implement your suggestions given through the survey at the end of camp. Field Trips Participants may need to bring extra spending money for food, souvenirs or other items not included in admission fees. Parents will receive information on trips at their respective playground locations. Parents are invited to join us on any day of camp including field trips. If you would like to go on any scheduled trip, please let the site supervisor know on the first day of camp for the week so your name may be added to the sign-up sheet. This will help with planning the number of buses needed. If your child is planning to attend the trip on a particular day, please make sure that his or her name is on the sign-up sheet.
